LEFTOVERS

Seemingly the photograph exists in a closely intertwined relationship with it’s subject however, in reality the two are not the same, one is withdrawn and alienated from the other. Hence this aestheticizing quality, any conveyed phenomenon can be viewed from a safe and comfortable distance. To dismantle the notion of beauty accepted by our cultural habits and established rules, I used the method of “anti-aesthetics”, to bring this issue to light. I wanted to achieve the same end result by using photoraphy’s camera-less tools (light sensitive paper and light itself), and the inverse of said concepts. This Luminoprint series was created with the use of spoiled and discarded food. I used mouldy and rotting groceries to try to create some sort of beauty from what in reality was a disgusting sight.
